it just keeps getting better. Brisbane hardcore group violent conflict dropped their new single 'silhouette of a saint' on April 1st and it goes hard. i'm about to take you on a journey. let's break this down.

the song starts strong. like....really strong. you get thrown in to the abyss right away. the intro reminds me of alice falling down the rabbit hole and you can't make of your surroundings. you're confused and panicking. you feel like theres no escaping. then it hit's you. 'fuck!'

going through the lyrics, the song dives deep into the mind of the individual whos experienced loss of ones self. we've all experienced this feeling. the feeling of losing your best self, not feeling like the person you once enjoyed. you go through so many emotions and questions.

the black dog lurks in the shadows of pain fills the fractures within my brain forgiven for the sin, but i can't shake the blame just another mistake where i can't stand the shame

you feel like time is running out. you're at a stage where you can't see an escape. the way violent conflict have structured this song is impressive. you'd read the lyrics and expepct and emotional ballad. wrong!

the pain and anger is all around. the sound is aggressive. it's strong. it's loud. it makes you want to let loose and just say 'fuck it' and have one final blow of rage before calling it a day.

quick note: this is perfect for your gym playlist. thank me later.

let's talk about this breakdown.

as it builds. we get what feels like (to me) a gentle call out. preperation if you will. the exhaustian is real. you've fought for as long as you can. you've tried everything. you accept defeat.

now this is the part where i want you to take a deep breath. you know what i always say. music is healing. as depressing and relatable this song is to alot of us. there is help available and here at hot & heavy collective. we want our readers, listeners and supporters to feel heard.

before we break it down further. below are some resources for all. no matter your situation, gender, sexuality. whatever it is.

lifeline - 13 11 14 (crisis support and suicide prevention) beyond blue - 1300 22 4636 (support for anxiety, depression and suicide prevention) suicide call back service - 1300 659 467

13yarn - 13 92 76 (culturally safe crisis support for aboriginal and Torres strait islander people)

i struggle to see myself in the fain reflection a dissonant echo from visions that i expected as the darkness fades, my heart decays i am nothing a silhouette of a saint

i can picture this live already. wall of death moment. make this happen or else. (seriously) this breakdown is perfect. the soft build up. a moment to breathe. it's bliss. nek minute, you're having one final blow. one final moment to break free and let it all out. the way these boys structured this single is insanley good and for me, this single is going to go down as one of the best releases for violent conflict. i'm so excited for what's to come from them and you should be too.

Australian metal is taking over.

a silhouette of a saint is such a beauitful way to put it. you know you're a good person. you don't want to be known as anything else. the best people always hurt the most.

the feeling of relief once the song ends is bittersweet. it's like you want it to keep going but again, the way its structured, it's a journey. there's always an end. but i mean if you want the (what we consider) fun times to keep going, you're gonna have to check out more from violent conflict and go see them when they hit your city!
