English gothic metal outfit, Paradise Lost, have just dropped 'Silence Like tHe Grave' - the first single off their upcoming album, Ascension. This will be their first new album in five years, since Obsidian in 2020, and their seventeenth since formation in 1988.

Known for their doomy and gothic sound, Paradise Lost has stood the test of time since 1988, maintaining four out of five member since formation.
"Ascension is a cavalcade of molten misery, a vigorous sorrow filled stroll through a wicked world of glorious triumph and pitiful tragedy." - vocalist nick holmes

The cover art for Ascension involves a painting by British Artist George Frederic Watts, The court of Death (1870-1902). It shows Death as an angel, and that all are equal in death. there are no protections from him, but that he may be a relief to others.
The grim artwork is a fitting representation of the dark riffs and and melancholic tone the album holds.
Ascension comes out on September 19th, releasing through Nuclear Blast Records and is being produced by founding guitarist, Gregor Mackintosh, and will be mixed and mastered by Lawrence Mackrory, who has worked with acts such as Bloodbath, Katatonia, and Vomitory.
