We came as romans are back in 2025 with their new single 'bad luck', released 17th April. The track is fueled by a pain that you can hear in both lyrics and vocals. Starting with an upbeat, electronic chanting, you're then thrust into a heavier sound and an even heavier message. The articulation of the lyrics in verse one is so clean, it's a beautiful contrast against the powerful sound of the drums that are brought in to power up the track. The beginning of the track reminds me of a more upbeat darkbloom, but the song quickly switches that up.
"I spent all my life wondering why the bad luck always comes so easy"
the lyrics describe the bad luck the band have experienced in the past, but also reveal how they've persevered to be where they are today. It's a very different direction from their past sound and early reviews of the song have been mixed, but the band have responded to fans saying that there is "plenty of weird stuff & heavy stuff in the pipeline".
The band have a lot to live up to after the release of their epic album 'darkbloom' in 2022, but we're excited to see what drops next and where the band will take their sound in 2025.
"But maybe all the days that cut so deep, and maybe all pain that no one sees They're all my scars, my bad luck to keep And you can't take that from me"

Bad Luck is out now.
