knocked loose have teamed up with rap icon denzel curry and created "hive mind"

this is the first single from the Louisville hardcore sensations since the release of their 3rd studio album "you wont go before you're supposed to"

hive mind is an extremely explosive heavy track and showcases a taste of what the next chapter is going to sound like from knocked loose. whilst this track is extremely unique by blending hardcore and rap together, knocked loose and denzel curry have proved that this was a walk in the park.

there is a neat flow of heavy guitar riffs that also switch into trap rhythms with Brian's screams that also blend into denzel's rap flows.

anyone that frequents knocked loose's

socials, would have seen that a few months ago they reached out to the Louisville community and asked for public extras to feature in the music video for hive mind.

the music video was filmed at the David armstrong extreme park. if you're anyone like me, i have an extreme soft spot for hardcore/punk music videos filmed at skate parks. we don't get to see it too often now but back in the 2000's they were very common.

i feel like this skate park is now going to become an iconic landmark for any by passer who wants a glimpse of hardcore history.

now everyone interprets music differently, and there currently is no direct explanation as to what hive mind is really about for the artists, so here is my shot at guessing the meaning behind the track.

think about the stranger things series, particularly season 4 and 5. the upside down is all connected by the "hive mind". now look at the lyrics behind knocked looses "hive mind" some of denzel curry's lyrics include "watch as everybody follow the leader" "when you don't follow the trend, you get crucified" which then follows the lyrics to the bridge of "jump when they say jump, stomp when they say stomp"

this could mean that the artists are refering to the fans and cult following of celebrities and musicians. fans will do anything to follow in thier idols foot steps and will bow down to ensure they are keeping up with trends that these celebrities set.

the line of "i don't care that you hate yourself" to me sounds like as soon as these fans aren't happy with themselves for trying to keep up with that pace, well these celebrates aren't going to care about them and it's more of the fans problem.

as i said, everything is connected by the hive mind, meaning the celebrities/cult leaders. so as soon as someone falls out of the hive mind, well then nobody cares about you.

the final lines of hive mind change from "jump when they say jump, stomp when they say stomp, run when they say run", there is then a massive plot twist and the lyrics are then reversed after the line "sorry bitch, i ain't no pawn" with the finger pointed back towards the leaders following the lyrics of "when i say stomp, you gotta motherfucking stomp bitch. when i say run, you gotta motherfucking run bitch". this shows the followers breaking the chain and reversing the roles back on the leaders and taking control of the hive mind.

so who is denzel curry some may ask?

denzel curry is a 30 year old American rap/hiphop artist. he exploded into the rap scene in 2017 with his hit "ultimate" going viral as the sound track to the "bottle flip" trend.

in 2018 curry released his iconic 'ta1300' album featuring hits like "black balons | 13lack 13aloonz", "sumo | zumo", "clout cobain | clout co13a1n" and his career skyrocketed.

in 2019 denzel curry was invited to do triple j's like a version here in australia. he covered rage against the machine's "bulls on parade" and the internet once again lost their minds seeing the hip hop artist they all know and love hit the ball out of the park by covering a punk song with 200% energy and passion. during triple j's "hottest 100 of like a versions" he just missed out on the top spot by placing no.2 in the countdown.

i discovered denzel curry when i was in high school and he was a massive part of my teen years, so to see him now 10 years later teaming up with knocked loose who is now a huge part of my mid 20's, makes hive mind a very deep, meaningful track that pulls all the right strings.

now anyone that had tickets to knocked loose's good things sideshow would've received an email following the cancelation. what a few people might've missed in the email was a message from knocked loose saying "we are already planning our return and cannot wait to be back as soon as possible". so for all of us knocked loose addicts, we may get to see the hardcore kings before the end of the year.

you may have also seen that there was a hive mind collection merch drop that you can pre order over at artists first. this includes 3 variants of coloured vinyls with one side being the single "hive mind" and the other side is the instrumental to hive mind, 2 t-shirt options, a hoodie and a ski mask.

are you hyped up yet? you should be!

so stream hive mind across all platforms NOW!!
