Rumours have been swirling this week about a three-part documentary series based on the band Korn. While neither Netflix nor Korn have validated these claims the rumours have continued to steadily build in the community. Writer Shraddha from 'Netflix Junkie' reported on the rumoured documentary on the 6th April 2025, pointing out that Netflix’s lean towards secrecy before its releases has “fueled speculation about an immersive deep-dive into the band’s tumultuous legacy”.

Rock United Philippines shared this photo of the band, with the Netflix logo clearly displayed, on April 4th 2025 on their Facebook page, with a caption that read “Are you ready!!! Korn's storied history is coming to Netflix in a brand-new 3-part documentary series, showcasing the band's impact on the NU Metal genre!” Commenters were excited by the news, but many questioned whether it was evidenced to be true.

While rumours swirl about the filming and release of one show, another Netflix show has fully embraced a nu-metal playlist. ‘Devil May Cry’ is a 2025 fantasy anime starring Johnny Yong Bosch, Scout Taylor Compton and Kevin Conroy. The show was created by Adi Shankar and has embraced a nu-metal packed soundtrack to support its storyline. Evanescence have written an original song for the show, titled 'Afterlife', and other bands on the show’s soundtrack include Limp Bizkit, Green Day, Papa Roach, Rage Against The Machine and Crazy Town. On April 1st 2025 the Nu-metal Agenda wrote “the Devil May Cry anime shows it’s once again gunning to be the representation for nu metal within the medium.” Devil May Cry released on the 3rd April, 2025.

While the shows above are potential productions or recent releases, mentions of nu-metal have popped up in other Netflix shows in the past. An example of this is the show ‘Beef’.
Released on 6th April 2023 the show incorporated nu-metal drops into both the dialogue and the track list. Artists featured in the show included Limp Bizkit, Hoobastank and System Of A Down. The character of Danny (played by Steven Yeun) jokes “it’s like giving Linkin Park a copy of Hybrid Theory” during one of the scenes. It’s interesting to see how nu-metal is used in modern film and how it has been referenced in the past. Will these shows bring in more fans to the community? Will these playlists spark fresh conversations about the genre? As we eagerly await confirmation on the documentary all we can say is that we hope the answer is a resounding “yes”.
