South west uk band held under. last week released their self titled ep. With just over 1000 monthly spotify listeners, get them while they are small. Their music is inspired by the likes of Meshuggah, Periphery, Alpha Wolf and Kublai Khan TX, so if this sounds like you, you are in for a treat.

Synthesis is the fifth and final track on the ep and comes swinging out of the gate. If you like chaotic metalcore with hardcore undertones and siren worthy backing vocals, this is the song for you.

While researching this review, I found myself sitting with my eyes closed, headphones on and just falling into the music on repeat. At the start of the song it was chaotic and almost had a rush of colours flashing past my eyelids, but as the song moved through the bars, my chest felt like something was being pulled back together, finally leaving me in a state of serenity.
The artful use of silence, blending a variety of harsh and ethereal clean vocals, creative use of alternating time signatures and downtuned guitars had me adding this song immediately to multiple playlists; and considering that I have probably just found a new favourite drummer to add to my list. Held Under. can be found on all major platforms.
