I've never started off talking about the music video before the track, but the visualizer for this track is simply amazing. A simple concept of two people sitting in a car, but the split screen utilised shows you how close, yet so distant, two people can be. This ties in perfectly to Bloom's new single, feat. Mikaila DelGado (yours truly) titled 'tongue tied'. There is a thoughtfulness in everything related to this track - from the title, to the lyrics, to the supporting video. Bloom have really thought this through and brought us an incredibly relatable, heart-breaking and solemn track.

Sydney band Bloom have just announced their new album 'the light we chase' due out October 31st through Pure Noise Records. Drummer of the band, Jack Van Vliet, stated that this latest release "marks new ground for bloom and is our softest, cleanest song to date; it's an honest look at being afraid to speak your mind, for fear of what will happen if you do". Acoustic guitar and clean vocals lead us into the track, setting a somber scene with lyrics like "And if only I could speak my truth, if i wasn't so scared to open up to you". The track feels honest and vulnerable, offering up the raw emotions that we've all felt in relationships.

As the track progresses powerful, slow-beating drums are brought in to further the emotional pull of the lyrics. Mikaila enters the track in verse two with beautifully clean, melodic vocals. Electric guitars and harmonies are brought in to bring this track to its climax. This track is one of Bloom's most captivating tracks to date. Jack further stated that the track "balances two clean voices as it balances full band and acoustic sections that flow naturally after the other, as the vocals balance honesty and fear in equal parts." The band have successfully balanced the honesty and fear that we can feel throughout the track. The energy feels authentic, not forced or cliche.

"we're lying next to each other, but we're home alone."

The light we chase is the second album from Sydney's melodic hardcore collective, Bloom. The members have stated that this album is about nostalgia, about where they all grew up. The 11 track album is due to be released October 31st. Bloom are currently on tour in Europe, before touring through the united states. Their latest Australia tour received high praise from those who attended and we see big things on the horizon for the band.
