MACËY drops new single 'fr fr'
Reinventing heavy music, Adelaide’s MACËY return with a new single ‘FR FR’, pairing gentle lyrics with hardcore breakdowns. The trio are known for experimenting with various sounds and genres, from electronic to shoegaze to metalcore, compiling them to one cohesive yet ever-changing track. Reminiscent of bands such as Ocean Sleeper, the group successfully flow between sounds whilst maintaining a strong image and unique identity in the Aussie scene.

FR FR is the leading single from the group’s upcoming sophomore EP, ‘Ready to Die’, following their 2025 debut EP, ‘Unleaded91’. The track opens with a nu-metal-esque breakdown, hardcore with an industrial, electronic distortion. Swaying into a melodic first verse, the track explores soft and dainty lyrics, “pretty hands doing pretty things”, backed up by distorted guitars. The gentle vocals continue, broken up by distorted screams, heavy drums and classic metalcore guitar riffs. You can tell inspirations come from various scenes and art forms, yet it complies cohesively into a single track that just makes sense.
The song was paired with a bold music video, adhering to their well crafted aesthetic identity, check it out here! If you missed MACËY on their last tour, follow their socials and be sure to catch them next time around, it was an unforgettable show.
