April has been a big month for music releases in the alternative music world. if we were to talk about everything new here, you would be reading until may.
here is a list of 10 songs released this month that we think you will be excited about.
upon a burning body - dragged through glass
April 11
upon a burning body will have you in their grasp from the very beginning with their take no prisoners style deathcore. "dragged through glass" is currently sitting at number 4 on their spotify. Uabb have not released information about an upcoming album, but we can only hope this single release is the beginning of something interesting to come.
marilyn manson - in the air tonight
April 18
"in the air tonight" was part of a two single release and is a cover of the classic by Phil collins (1981).
if you are a fan of Manson's previous covers this will be right up your alley. classic use of signature cleans, fry and over production effects, scratchy guitars and disjointed rhythms will have you captivated.
slaughter to prevail - Russian grizzly in america April 23
"Russian grizzly in america" is the latest single release from the upcoming slaughter to prevail album 'grizzly' to be released July 18. the Russian-uk deathcore band is known for their deep gutteral multi-lingual vocal stylings, chunky guitars and blast beat drums and this release ticks all the boxes.
sleep token - caramel
April 4
"Caramel" is the second single release of the forthcoming album "even in arcadia", due for release on May 9. "caramel" hits the important and under-discussed subjects of toxic fandom and the prices of fame. in true sleep token style, the story takes you on a multi-genre journey with confronting lyrics. "caramel" has reached number one on the billboard charts, making this their second number one from this album release.
totalbuzzkill - empty words
April 9
totalbuzzkill came out of the gates swinging onto the Brisbane music scene through covid. "empty words" Is their latest alternative metalcore single release from the upcoming album "the start of something beautiful." "empty words" is powerful and emotional and is reminisce of early the amity AFFLICTION.
eksnilo - among the stars
April 6
"among the stars" is from eksnilo first album release "meltdown." The Italian alternative metal band has less than 5k monthly listeners, so get onto them while they are relatively unknown.
if you are looking for electronica nightwish meets audioslave with Jared Leto style screaming, this is definitely a band for you.
gwar - lot lizard
April 15
in true gwar fashion, I was unable to link their video below due to age restrictions. you will however find the link to the song on Spotify.
the heavy metal "shock-and-awe" band follows a common theme of theirs, in their latest single "lot lizard," of rock 'n' roll style lyrics over a metal guitar solo, fast paced symble heavy drums and crowd sing ability. "lot lizard" is the first single release of gwars upcoming album "the return of gor gor" on July 25.
what lies below - the silence we keep

do you like metalcore? this is going to be a new favourite, from pennyslvanian band, what lies below. if you think of everything that makes a good metalcore song, you will find it here. "the silence we keep" is the first single release of 2025 and hopefully a promise of more to come.
Left to suffer - set the world on fire

If dog barks, goblin tunnels, breakdowns and skull crushing is up your alley, you may have just found your new favourite song. "set the world on fire" is the latest release from left to suffer. the band has the impressive boast of releasing an album a year since 2020; while no 2025 album has as yet been announced, we can only imagine it isn't too far away.
Machine head - bønescraper

have you been crossed in love? "bønescraper" is your new anthem. "love is just a loaded gun" will definitely be a crowd sing-a-long moment. "bønescraper" is a single off machine head's latest album "unatøned" due for release on april 24.
