TORIZON, from meanjin/Brisbane Queensland, have been releasing music since 2023, under the affectionately used title "petalcore," fusing metalcore, alternative metal and pop hooks. 'bloom' is the third single release from torizon, following the debut of martyr and damaged in October 2024.

this song will be marked with a trigger warning for discussion of miscarriage.
'bloom' follows the story of Luna and Sam as they process the loss of their baby, describing the life taken too soon as "my seed that never flowered." the lyrics will rip your heart right out of your chest, with lines such as, "our bodies will decay into the ground, but you my love are eternal" and "Even though that you're gone (you’re on the other side now), I save a space just for you And pray that you will one day bloom".

I do not recommend listening to this song if you have suffered a loss and are having a bad mental day, as Misha and Ben hit the feeling of anguish and loss of control with their layered vocals perfectly. Misha has a versatile rock voice, something akin to Amy Lee or Ella hooper, which she use to pull you through the darkness and turmoil.
the song starts with melodic and dark ethereal instrumentals, before adjusting to heavy guitars and bass line, cymbal and double kick heavy drums, with smooth tempo shifts and a general feeling

of being pulled into a tumultuous pit of despair and anguish. finally to song cuts all at once, leaving you reeling and disorientated.
you can catch TORIZON at pink tectonic at the cave inn on thursday the 12th of June at 6pm. the event is free entry, with free beverages and hand stretched pizza.
for fans of: bad omens, evanescence, disturbed, northlane
