As the end of the year rapidly approaches at a scary rate, I decided to reflect upon some of my favourite heavy music releases of the year and compile them into a lovely and easily accessible article for the people.
In no particular order, my musical highlights from the year are listed below, happy reading (and listening!) ❤︎🤘
'VIBE Cop' - HEALTH
Cum-metal overlords HEALTH dropped their CONFLICT DLC album super recently on the 11th of December, and overall it was absolutely mind-blowing. ‘VIBE COP’ was the most poignant track on the album for me, with the haunting line of “follow your dreams, just keep them to yourself” floating around in my mind after listening to this one on repeat. This track blends depth and emotion, with aggro-tech harshness to create something really sick.

'Heathen Days' - Rob Zombie
At the end of November, Rob Zombie dropped ‘Heathen Days’, an explosive track from his upcoming new album THE GREAT SATAN. This song is everything that makes Rob Zombie so kick-ass, and brings back his iconic Hellbilly Deluxe sound with its face-paced sonic assault. Definitely one to add to your driving playlist (although you may be encouraged to break speeding laws crazy style).

'DELULU' - Kevin Silvester
Melbourne based pop-rock idol Kevin Silvester released his debut EP O2 this year, with each song being absolutely incredible in its own way. 'DELULU' was my absolute favourite track however, with its anthemic catchy chorus and captivating lyricism. Seeing Kevin perform this one live was so fun and energetic, firmly planting this track within my list of top hits of the year. Love you Kevin! ❤︎

'Drunken God' - Zheani
Australian artist Zheani released LONG LIVE THE OLD DEAD GODS in late November, her first album drop since 2022. Each track is magical and beautifully painful in its own way, with the semi-titular track ‘DRUNKEN GOD’ being highly impactful and one of my favourites off the album. This song embraces its own chaos, making it as intoxicating to listen to as its subject matter.

'Making Love To Morgan Wallen' - Limp Bizkit
Nu-metal icons Limp Bizkit returned this year with 'Making Love To Morgan Wallen', their first release in four years! This track features Fred Durst’s signature delivery of tongue-in-cheek lyrics with their signature swag and flow. This song is catchy as hell and overall an absolute certified banger. This is how you do a comeback single. No notes.

'Gunmetal Black' - RinRin
RinRin was an artist that I discovered in 2025 and immediately fell in love with her unique mix of metal, pop-punk, industrial and electronic. ‘Gunmetal Black’ is explosive and fiery right off the bat, full of attitude and cool-girl energy. All hail the up-and-coming breakdown queen!

'milk of the madonna' - Deftones
Deftones were back in 2025 with ‘milk of the madonna’, a track from their most recent album private music. Carrying the distinctive tone and mood of previous Deftones tracks, this song was deliciously angsty and full of yearning.

'Tyrants Serenade' - Paradise Lost
‘Tyrants Serenade’ from goth-metal legends Paradise Lost, was another highlight for me this year. Beautifully melancholic and doomy, this track was intoxicating and emotionally charged to the max. I absolutely love songs that make my heart feel like it’s about to break, and this one absolutely encapsulated that feeling.

There were many honourable contenders for the top new songs of 2025, but there we have it! Hopefully 2026 brings as many heavy bangers as 2025 did.
