The ocean has had many line up changes over the years, with guitarist Robin Staps the founding and remaining member since conception in 2000. mATTIAS Hägerstrand AND Peter Voigtmann ARE CURRENTLY STILL PART OF THE ACT.

rOSSETTI'S DISTINCT VOICE HAS BEEN WITH THE BAND SINCE 2009, WITH THEIR 2010 hELIOCENTRIC / aNTHROPOCENTRIC RELEASES. ÅHFELDT JOINED IN 2018 FOR pHANEROZOIC i: pALAEOZOIC.

The Ocean had told fans in September 2024 THAT february 2nd 2025 would mark their final show with the line up at the time, but fans are heartbroken by the news. THEIR CULT FOLLOWING DID NOT anticipate such a DEVASTATING lineup change, which has been steady since 2018.

Ramis and Rossetti have said their decisions are personal, siting creative differences or no longer being happy in the band. They have said they have enjoyed their time in the project.

Both members will play their last show with the band at hellfest, saturday june 21st.

tHEY have taken to social media to announce their departure.

ÅHFELDT States:

"I’ve decided to step down from my position as guitarist of The Ocean.

The reasons are purely personal, and I want to be clear that there’s absolutely no bad blood between any of us. I love the guys deeply and will always be grateful for the experiences we’ve shared over the years.

Without getting too deep into it, I’ve come to realize that I’m no longer happy being involved in the band — and that’s something I can’t ignore.

That said, these past years have been an incredible ride, and I’m thankful to have met so many of you along the way. Your support has meant the world to me.

I’ll be playing my final shows with the band soon, including an epic closing chapter show at @hellfestopenair . If you happen to be at any of the shows, please come and say hi — I’d love that.

Much love to you all,

David"

Rossetti states

"What a wild ride these 16 years have been! As you might’ve heard, I’m stepping down as vocalist of The Ocean and @hellfestopenair will be my final show with the band.

To everyone who’s been there from sweaty basement gigs to festivals, your support kept this fire burning. Some of you became real friends along the way. Never saw that coming. Thank you.

This decision is mine. Over time, our visions and creative paths naturally drifted. Without diving too deep into it, I’ve realized I’m no longer meant to be part of this particular dynamic. No drama, just heading in different directions.

The Ocean will carry on, and I wish them well. I’m proud of what we built. Big thanks to Robin, my bandmates, every crew member, my wife and family and everyone who helped make this journey possible.

As for me, I’m diving into something new and bringing all this energy with me. I’m stoked for whatever madness comes next.

Horns up, you beautiful lunatics. Thanks for making all this chaos worth it. Keep backing the bands you dig and stay safe out there.

Peace"
