melbourne has some fresh meat in the scene. built around the sound they call 'ethereal violence', their music is cinematic and immersive.
Just the way i like it.
solis (as a band) may be new but the group consists of members from established bands in the local Melbourne scene.
let's dive in to this review.

the song starts as a slow build. with the deep drums and quiet whispers.
for just a moment it's quiet, unaware of what's to come. then... you get thrown in with some filthy riffs. you can hear the anger, the frustration, the weakness but also the strength in every instrument. the balance between the music, lyrics and build up throughout the song is just right.
I wrote this song back in April last year during my time in Melting. It was inspired by Knocked Loose ‘Sit and Mourn’ not in sound, but in the feeling it left behind - Tom
i couldn't agree more. in fact, this really hits home for me. maidenless as you can imagine is about grief, survivors guilt, the pressure and stress that comes with triumph after battling so long. trying to keep your composure. trying to stay as strong as you can be.
Breathe in composure
You're not done until it's over
Composed of flesh and bone
Born a tarnished soul
The track always had layers that didn’t fit where Melting was heading, so I held onto it until I met Vas who really gave it its flavour with his pitched screams in the chorus. Standing here in July 2026 with a full band and finally releasing it, it feels surreal - Tom
MUSIC VIDEO
i have to talk about the music video. for all my woo woo people and my knights and maidens, you're gonna love this. it tells the story perfectly. a knight searching for his maiden who is soon cut down by the evil wizard.
as the knight lays in defeat, a fair maiden dressed in white arrives. blessing him and bringing him back to life stronger than ever. the knight will get his redemption. finding the wizard and killing him.
Our music video showed us that ambition doesn’t need a big budget, just creativity and collaboration which are keen to dive into and have more fun with - tom
it's actually quite refreshing hearing a nasty song with motivational lyrics. everyone has their battles. staying strong and fighting for what you love...whatever it is... you will be victorious.
Solis have some exciting work coming very soon with an EP and some shows on the horizon.
From here, we’re finishing the EP and building an atmosphere that’s both chaotic and cathartic, a place where people can come to a show and let everything go but also hopefully enjoy the soundscapes we create - tom
I am so excited to hear more from this group. I secretly hope they keep this medieval vibe they got going on with their art but with such incredible vocals and sound all around. Anything from them will be a sweet treat for all!
SHOWS
Their first show will be supporting our friends melting at the leadbeater hotel, vic on october 3rd
