Sage drops the final single leading up to EP release
thats right, folks!
our queen of bitch punk, sage, is back with the final single before the release of the ep 'free brainwashing', which comes out on september 9th.
the single is titled 'ascendent no more' which is (in her words) 'the surf punk song about feeling like a piece of shit'
sign me the fuck up.
'ascendent no more' is a duet (of sorts) with drummer, Jareth jumping on the clean vocals.
it starts off with that 80's surf guitar riff that we all love. as we progress further. the structure is a line of sage and a line of jareth. both basically going on about how shit life can be and all of these things that are just wrong and bring you down. You feel as if you can no longer ascend in mood.
it was frankensteined together from a bunch of one liners i had laying around and is through and through a love letter to 80s punk bands like descendents and agent orange. the name is even a descendents reference in a weird way. - sage
the song is short and sweet. just over 2 minutes of fun. it ends with the sentence repeated 4 times.
'i'm not special, i'm a cliche
my end is nigh'
then you have this absolutely gorgeous beach boys harmony and a 'wipe out' style riff to close the song.
I fucking love this song. i am so unbelieveb;y excited for this ep. bitch punk is alive and thriving. you can catch the latest sage news over on her instagram here.
