Fresh on the scene, Raging Patience are roaring for a show and ready to drop their first single, ‘Fight or Flight’ on june 9th. Formed in November 2024, based just south of Sydney in Sutherland Shire, the band wants to bring metal back to the local scene.

The band formed of lead vocalist Brock H, lead guitarist Brock W, bassist Aaron, and drummer Matt cite some of their influences as being Lamb of God, Parkway Drive, and Pantera. Listening to ‘Fight or Flight’, you can certainly hear that inspiration bleed into their craft.
‘Fight or Flight’ opens with a tough beating riff, soon joined by the rest of the band to build their sound. It sounds similar to something you might hear on Lamb of God’s Ashes of the Wake record, which gives you a good idea of what you’ll get into with Raging Patience.
The track is relatively short, clocking in at 2:21 - and it gets to the point out of the gate! The guitars are quite bouncy, with an energetic riff followed by a quick lick. They change up the formula every few bars as well, and don’t fall into the trap of sounding droney or repetitive.
Brock H’s vocals are traditional death metal style, and with some more years under his belt I believe he’ll really finetune his tone. The lyrical content speaks to feeling beat down and treated like trash by others, but spins it into what do we really want to do in these situations? We can fight or flight - and we should always want to FIGHT!
There’s nothing better in a song than a driving snare beat, and Matt certainly delivers, though the tone could be a little snappier to really push the song along. His change in beats are noticeable and creates dynamics in his playing. The bass also falls back a bit in the mix for this one, lacking some of the bite you might like to hear in some metal bands. The musicianship sounds great, but it just needs that bit of extra kick to bring it forwards more.
We get a little breakdown just over halfway through the song, with some gang vocals (no doubt crowds will get involved with) before finishing the song out with a chunky outro.
Raging Patience hasn’t got any shows coming up for the remainder of 2025, but are very keen to play anywhere anytime! ‘Fight or Flight’ is a fantastic first single from the band, demonstrating good understanding of the genre’s they’re modelled off and have made themselves accessible for the wider range of metal fans. Keep an eye on Raging Patience to catch their next show and see how they grow!
'fight or flight' drops june 9th!
