moths are "punching down" with their latest single release. the self proclaimed unhinged punk musicians from naarm/melbourne have unleashed their fourth single onto the world.

"They say that God doesn't close any doors without opening any windows."
the track starts with a heavy unmistakably punk bass line, before turning into something that gives the impression of a 'misfits and the clash meets early Silverchair' super baby. as Vocalist / guitarist Ethan enters the conversation it is with a nonchalant swagger before becoming more desperate as he growls "I can't believe you don't wear that on your sleeve."
"For this song we’ve drawn on elements of noise rock and groove metal, with a massive scream-along chorus that moves into a melodic guitar solo into a breakdown so filthy you’ll need a

shower afterwards. It is the kind of heavy punk music we’ve been aching to hear."
"they say that God doesn't kick out your kneecaps without giving Satan a cricket bat." While I found myself drawn to the instrumentals of the track and less of the lyricism I can understand what moths are going for. this song will cause great fan engagement with the opportunity of screaming "I can't believe you don't wear that on your sleeve" back to the band in a live setting. I particularly appreciate that as this song goes through its motions, it becomes more ravenous and unhinged, like there is a loss of control at the hypocrisy of people holding their opinions close to their chest.
This is the first of a set of songs we’ve been playing live that we’ve recorded, this time taking a truly D.I.Y approach. It’s really the culmination of a massive experiment to prove that we are capable of self-producing and creating amazing punk rock music. Adam’s recording and mixing is seriously professional quality, just as much as our collective songwriting and instrumental technicality is. “Punching Down” we feel is the perfect reflection of what we’re about – snarky lyricism, music dripping with attitude, and most importantly, “D.I.Y til I D.I.E”. - ethan
