Acclaimed UK metalcore band Polar are back with their first music drop of 2026, and it was definitely worth the wait!

Following up from their 2024 album ‘Five Arrows’, ‘JOHATSU’ is a marker of Polar’s new era entering 2026. Consisting of a revitalised line-up and renewed positivity, Polar are on a path of worldwide domination.

The literal meaning of the title JOHATSU’ stems from the Japanese word for “evaporation”, however it also has a heavier connotation and is used to describe someone who deliberately decides to vanish from their life without a trace.

In a recent article from Distorted Sound Magazine, vocalist Adam Woodford states that “Johatsu plays like a quiet disappearance, a song for the moments when life feels too heavy and you dream of slipping away long enough to breathe again.”

Maintaining both heaviness and delicacy, this track perfectly balances melodic elements like dual guitars with heavy, distinctively metalcore riffs and breakdowns. Alternating between different vocal styles allows for that feeling of catharsis to be expressed, with gruff harshness and pain being contrasted with more softly contemplative moments in the bridge and throughout the track.

Momentum builds until it reaches a moment of climax in the form of a final breakdown that leads the track to its end, with pummeling drums and brutal vocals carrying the track outwards. Finishing with a bang, 'JOHATSU’ is a track that is dynamic, explosive and evocative.

Fans of bands like Polaris and Parkway Drive will definitely want to check these guys out! Listen to ‘JOHATSU’ for yourself here and keep up to Polar on all their socials here!

If you’re lucky enough to be Europe-bound, Polar are currently embarking on a headline European tour, with tickets available here!
