Sometimes you just have a pop punk itch that needs scratching. If your usual pop punk favourites are bands like Paramore or Talk Heavy, then you'll be sure to vibe with the sounds of pilot crisis. Consisting of members Evie Cowen (Vocals), Mitch Chen (Guitar), Eliot Argus (Bass), and Tim Ricketts (Drums), this four piece from Brisbane, Australia are set to bring you some musical joy with their infectious smiles and upbeat tracks. The band's sound has been described as a "distinct Australian blend of modern alternative rock" with "infectious melodies, paired with dual guitars, punk-fuelled drums, and rocksteady bass grooves". With an intro like that, let's dive in to their latest single no vacancy, releasing November 12th.
The track starts off catchy and packed with electric guitar and emo-style vocals. Ironically, the track is immediately engaging even though our vocalist shouts out the lyrics "I've lost interest again;
Specifically I can’t engage, engage". An electric guitar solo comes in early in the track, giving us something fresh and captivating to hook us in for the rest of the song. The track is said to capture the "spiral of overthinking born from boredom", which I'm sure we've all experienced before. The band give us a catchy, repetitive and easy to sing chorus. You'll be singing along after a single listen with this one. The end of the track is packed with explosive riffs and an epic final chorus run through. If you're looking for an upbeat, fun, pop-punk infusion, then this track has got you covered.

Pilot crisis have previously released singles 'misguided', 'sad sunshine' and 'turning on the tele' (all produced by Matt Cochran of talk heavy). In 2025 pilot crisis joined Vipersnatch on their very first mini tour, and also supported beddy rays. We are hoping to see more from pilot crisis in 2026!
