Have you ever listened to a song, found out afterwards that the artists were Aussie and thought to yourself 'no way, I never would've guessed!'? Well, that's definitely not the case with off chops. These guys sound amazingly Aussie and the themes, sound and quirkiness of their songs all reflect this. With songs like ode to sauce (about the justified outrage that comes with paying an additional price for sauce), The dark side of tanning and six and out, this band will have you singing along and giggling along to their tracks. I've never listened to a band and audibly laughed at one of the lines in a song. These guys are bloody awesome!

Their latest release get outlook for android is described by the band as "the contemporary Workers anthem, standing up for the Friday arvo plight of the lanyard wearing desk jockey". With a description like that, you just know the track is going to be stellar. Starting off with a classic drum and guitar intro, the song takes us along on the journey of a man who's excited to knock off work on a Friday afternoon. "Footy with the boys; yeah that's fuckin' choice" they sing excitedly, before copping that 4.33pm email outlining a task needing to be done before close of business. The electric guitar solo in the bridge is not only impressive, but adds to the tension building throughout the song and the inevitable outrage felt by our protagonist. The track is one that most Aussie's will both relate to and laugh along with.

The band gave us a description of the track which read "It's Barnsey meets the Getaway Plan, meets the Story So Far - a pop punk/emo anthem which delivers Australiana in spades" and honestly, no notes. That's a perfect description of what they've served up to us with this track!

Off chops consists of Nick Summerhays and

Yossi Cascun from North-west Sydney. They've said that they draw inspiration for their song writing from life experiences, like "meeting a rando on a night out, having a great time with them and never seeing them again" (triple j unearthed). The band are unapologetically themselves and write songs about things we all experience in Australian culture. Their tracks are easy listening with a couple of laughs thrown in.

If you like what you've heard so far, you can check the band out on their instagram, Spotify and apple music.

In the past we've seen bands tackle political issues, deep personal experiences and international news stories, but it's about time we got a band who tackle the real issues..... because even though we only order mustard occasionally, we shouldn't have to pay extra for it.
