Makarian, a newly formed metal band from Liverpool, have just released their debut single Stargazer and it packs an astronomical punch!

As a newly established band, this track demonstrates that Makarian already have their sound down pat, with this track illustrating both their technical ability and musical vision.

Stargazer opens with a hypnotic bassline riff, which is followed by vocals that are almost militaristic. This opening sets an industrial tone right from the get go, establishing a sense of moodiness and forcefulness which follows through the rest of the track.

The heaviness of the song is evident very early on, not only through the deep and growling vocals, but also through the richly textured instrumentals. The intoxicating bassline, the grooving guitars and the powerful drums come together to forge a captivating sonic atmosphere.

The structure of the track is dynamic, as MAKARIAN manage to entwine brutal vocals and heaviness with beautifully melodic moments, crafting a sonic tapestry which is truly something special.

The lyrics are highly poetic in nature and revolve around the concepts of intergalactic invaders and mortality; but told in a way which is expressive and figurative. The lyrics are both surreal and technical, which also serves as an excellent descriptor for Stargazer as a whole.

Towards the end of the track, the speed and intensity build and build, erupting into one final breakdown and then suddenly ending, much like an exploding supernova.

Guitarist, Phil Dyer, states that the song is a "bit of a throwback to early 2000’s metal" and the band manages to encapsulate those vibes in a way which is extremely nuanced and refreshing.

The song contains elements of industrial, prog, nu-metal and modern metal which have been artfully combined by Makarian to create a sound which commands attention (and head banging)!

Stargazer is accompanied by a music video (which definitely gives off those early 2000’s vibes), along with a separate lyric video too, which can be viewed here.

Ultimately, I was truly blown away by the intense and polished sound of Stargazer. It is the sort of debut that makes me super excited to see what else the future will hold for Makarian!

Stargazer will be the first track off of Makarian’s upcoming debut EP 'Of The Void', which, after hearing this track, I will be eagerly awaiting the release date announcements!
