if you're after something pop-like, with a touch of angst, that makes you feel like an alt-disney-princess in 2010, check out jordyn rayne.
this sparkling new artist emerging from edmonton, canada has been busy putting her values and beliefs out into the world in a punk-rock, rhythmic volume. today we're focussing particularly on jordyn's latest single "1-800-cyber-bully"
as you guessed, it's about the ever growing issue of cyber-bullying. we've heard about it in schools, at work, from our children and some of us have experienced it first hand. and unfortunately, as an australian writing this, it hits harder hearing this song from the other side of the world.
jordyn was brave enough to not only speak out about it, she sung about it. this song made my ears perk at first, but watching the music video with it made my heart sink too. something so simple, yet seen and heard loudly.

not only are the lyrics smart, brave and bold, so are the instrumentals. sharp, shredding riffs & guitar solos, a sexy baseline and foot-stomping drums.
i can see this song being a fun one with a crowd singing along, people dancing AND GETTING THEIR ANGER OFF THEIR CHESTS.
i personally like how most of the lyrics are based on the feeling of being threatened and receiving these mean messages, but the chorus is taking a step back and asking, "would you say it to my face? would you look the other way?" in a world with no back-space, would you be who you betrayed?" i think these lyrics are incredibly smart and hold a lot of power against the keyboard warrior a-holes out there.
since this single, jordyn released her full 13 track deluxe album 'lady' with also 7 extra live and instrumental versions.
jordyn has a flourishing career ahead of her, and this was a fantastic introduction to see where she's heading.
