At 6.30 on Tuesday night I stepped into the foyer of the Brisbane Entertainment Centre to watch the inevitable spectacle of the Sold Out show of Falling In Reverse with a level of excitement only to be matched by my eighteen year old emo self at her first concert; to be greeted by long lines of enthusiastic concert goers waiting to get their hands on merch.

making my way through the buzzing crowd I was taken to my seat by an usher as Hollywood Undead ran around the stage, engaging the crowd and belting out their hearts to ‘Riot’. The crowd built in energy as the band played, peaking as they performed their #1 streamed song ‘Everywhere I go’ coming to a finish on ‘Bullet’, leaving me on an unexpected high, not personally knowing much about the band.

Next up, one of my personal bucket list bands, Black Veil Brides. Opening with ‘Knives and Pens’ the crowd kept the high energy going to ruckus cheers. Performing a selection of the old and new in the form of ‘Bleeders’, ‘Coffin’ and ‘In The End’, to a clean sound and interesting light show, they had won over a new fan in the form of my son. Finding myself lost in the interactions between the guitarists, guitar solos, twirling drumsticks and the smooth cleans and harsh screams that are Andy Biersack’s vocal range, I found the set finishing too early for my selfish teenage dream.

Finally, waiting with anticipation and bated breath, the lights dropped for a final time as the sounds of ACDC’s ‘Highway To Hell’ blasted through the speakers and the main screen lit with a video of the band backstage. What happened next could only be described as the best Arena performance I have personally witnessed.

Hit after hit after hit being performed in the forms of ‘Ronald’, ‘Watch The World Burn’, ‘Bad Guy’, ‘The Drug In Me Is You’, amongst many others. The use of pyrotechnics, lighting and crowd interactions including, but not limited to, skits, sing-a-longs (occasionally exceeding the sounds of the band themselves), surprise moshpit performance with Ronnie and Tyler performing their way through the crowd and not-so-subtle negging, making this one of the most visually interesting and entertaining shows I have seen.

I left the Centre that night with a skip in my step and a feeling in my heart that if Ronnie Radke and the boys from Falling In Reverse wished to create a cult in Brisbane they were well on their way as they promised to return again soon and in a larger venue.
