Who doesn’t love finding new bands? let alone getting on at the ground floor before they (inevitably) take off! Sydney’s pop-punk scene’s newest band are here. Facelift have announced their arrival with their debut single, ‘Ceiling Fan’.

Driven for a desire to return the pop-punk scene to its pre-2020 former glory, Facelift are on a mission. 'Ceiling Fan' is a great jumping off point. catchy, relatable and the perfect amount of emo.
The band cite influences from The story so far and Neck Deep, to Stand Atlantic and Knuckle Puck, and that is clear from the sound of this single. The nostalgia of pop-punk’s underground revolution in the early 2010’s is very apparent in the song. I’m here for it, it makes me feel old, but I love that sound.
I started writing 'Ceiling Fan' a few years ago when I felt trapped in routines that no longer served me but couldn't seem to change or move forward. A lot has changed since, but when I recorded the song in early 2026, it felt relevant again... Starting Facelift and finally releasing this song became my first real step towards leaving that feeling behind - Sarah Bonnet

'Ceiling fan' is going straight into my heavy rotation. The repeated refrain from the back third of the song has been stuck in my head since I first heard it and its showing no sign of leaving any time soon. I can’t wait to see what is to come for facelift. This band is exciting. Live shows are undoubtably next, but with no debut show announced yet I’ll wait with bated breath for that announcement.
Facelift are comprised of: Joshua Mackay on drums, Tahlia McLennan, of Dollshaker, on bass, Marty Cornford, of afterthought, on guitar, and Sarah Bonnet, formerly of A Swift Farewell (rip), fronting the band.
