Melbourne’s alternative rock scene has been loud for years, but divedown are quickly becoming one of those bands you can feel building momentum with every release. Their new single I Want To See It All is out now through Ninth Life Records, and it is easily their brightest, most pop punk leaning track so far. If you love that restless, punchy energy of The Story So Far, this one will slide straight into your playlists without even asking permission.

The song kicks in with a rhythm section that feels like it is sprinting out from under you, then drops into a chorus that is so catchy it almost feels rude. There is a real sense of urgency driving the whole thing. You can hear that push and pull between wanting to go out and live a bigger life, but feeling stuck behind the glass. Vocalist Sam Bianco does not hide it either. His lyrics hit with that familiar mix of loneliness and frustration that anyone in their twenties or thirties has felt at least once while staring at the same four walls.

What makes this release interesting is how it ties together everything divedown have done so far. Their debut Blame Game had that bouncy pop punk backbone that immediately grabbed attention. In My Head shifted things into a heavier, moodier lane that showed the band were willing to dig deeper. I Want To See It All takes both sides and blends them in a way that makes the track feel like the next natural evolution.

The success they have had this year makes the leap feel even more exciting. Blame Game landed on Spotify’s Fresh Finds and Local Noise and pulled airplay from triple j Unearthed, triple j CORE and SYN FM. In My Head followed with its own strong run including a triple j first play and glowing Unearthed reviews. For a band that only launched in July, their rise has been quick for a reason.

It helps that divedown are not exactly strangers. The lineup reads like a who’s who of Melbourne’s alt community, pulling members from Set The Score, Weighbridge and Parkwood. Add their signing to Ninth Life Records, a label already supporting some of the strongest emerging acts in the scene, and it feels like the band have walked in with both experience and a clear sense of direction.

If you are a fan of Citizen, Movements, Free Throw or anything that sits in the blurred line between pop punk and alt rock, this is one worth adding to your rotation. Divedown are carving out their space fast, and I Want To See It All makes it clear they are only getting started.
