Sydney’s own nu metal and hardcore force Deficit have revealed that their upcoming EP, DEATHSTYLE, will arrive Friday, November 21. To celebrate, the band have dropped the explosive title track. This is a fierce preview of what’s to come.

With this project, Deficit are carving out their own lane in heavy music by coining the term “DEATHSTYLE” a word that encapsulates both their sonic identity and philosophy.
“DEATHSTYLE isn’t just the name of a song, it’s who we are,” the band explains. “‘Death’ represents our foundations in Metal, Hardcore, Death Metal, and Deathcore, while ‘Style’ embodies the groove, swagger, and attitude that make our sound distinct.”
The announcement follows their recent single “FYA”, released in September. A fiery collaboration with UNITYTX that merged Deficit’s punishing heaviness with UNITYTX’s rap-metal ferocity. The track captured the raw chemistry between both acts and their shared refusal to conform.

Emerging from Sydney’s heavy scene, Deficit have become one of Australia’s most talked-about new metal acts. With millions of streams across four EPs, the lineup (Nathan Newman, Macleane Ryan, Michael Campbell, Blake Fry, and Zak Borg) have toured alongside Ocean Sleeper, Lil Lotus (US), Alpha Wolf, Malevolence (UK), UNITYTX (USA), Prompts (JPN), and Diamond Construct, building a fearsome live reputation in the process.
On DEATHSTYLE, the band dive deeper into the aggressive, unfiltered roots of their sound, rejecting overproduced gloss in favour of raw intensity and emotion. Drawing inspiration from late ’90s metal, nu metal, hardcore, and industrial influences, Deficit are setting the tone for a new era of Australian heavy music.
“DEATHSTYLE” (single) is out now on all platforms. The full EP drops Friday, November 21.
