Brisbane hardcore band Grizzlyshark are back with their new single "Brand New

Tragedy", after their successful release of "waiting for y2k" in September; you can read our review here. Brand New Tragedy "is 1 part infectious melody for every 2 parts chaotic fury". I recommend you take the time to watch the video because it is honestly hilarious, featuring kidnappings, and a hot sauce challenge and outtakes at the end you are bound to find yourself laughing.
BNT is essentially a song based on the hit show, The Bear. The show has found its way as a cultural mainstay and suffice to say, the Grizzlyshark crew love it. Pulling on themes of anxiety, loss, grief and personal growth while still having truly heart-felt moments was something we wanted to capture within a tune. The song aims to capture the frantic nature and themes found within the show.

"Are you saving something for me? A little taste of something sweet, oh so sweet, Let the smoke settle just to see what’s beneath, Blistered hearts and weary souls remain here" brand New Tragedy is dirty, grungy, gritty and high energy in all the best ways. While containing that notably Grizzlyshark sound, BNT hits with a much heavier tone than 'waiting for y2k' with a wide range of vocal techniques including gutterals, feral and chaotic drumming, "garage band" style punk guitar lines and an overall "chunky" for want of a better word sound.
"Burn it down! burn it down! The canopy is broken, The energy is soaking in, Seeping down the cracks From all the gravity."
Lyrics to the song also make subtle nods to lines and moments from The Bear. To add to the chaos found within the sounds and lyrics, BNT has a guest feature from Jesse Bruce (ZUKO). To link into the show's food-centric nature, the music video also features a hot sauce challenge. Bon appetite.

"Only way is up, Prove to them that we can do it, Only way is up, But you can’t start at fucked"
the addition of zukø's vocalist Jesse adds another layer, keeping you guessing and wondering where the song will go. BNT brings in all the mayhem, heat, excitement and sometimes uncontrolled stress of a professional kitchen. "Chalk it up to the distance, Go change the melody, No time breathe, What a relief."
