There's something magical about a bands final show of the year and Bloom's performance at Brissy's Black Bear Lodge was no exception. Fresh off a whirlwind year that saw them touring with Aussie giants like Polaris and Make Them Suffer and even heading over in the states for the first time supporting Miss May I, Bloom returned home with a palpable energy and emotional depth that had this intimate venue buzzing with anticipation.

THE ATMOSPHERE

The Black Bear Lodge offered the perfect backdrop for this special night. Its warm, cozy aesthetic amplified the closeness between the band and their devoted fans, creating an experience that felt less like a performance and more like a communal celebration of their journey.

The crowd composed of die hard supporters and new fans alike seemed electrified, ready to soak up every note, lyric, and emotion the band poured out.

I had a chat with a couple of fans and heard their stories on how they discovered Bloom and how their songs affect them and my goodness some tugged on the heart strings.

THE SET

Bloom’s setlist was a blend of their heartfelt discography, showcasing tracks that have defined their rise in Australia’s melodic hardcore scene and they closed off the night with one of their first songs released and hearing the crowd go crazy was a beautiful moment i won't forget. Each song felt like a chapter of their story, delivered with raw intensity and emotional resonance.

Frontman Jono Hawkey’s impassioned vocals soared through the room, pulling the audience into the band’s world, while the tight instrumentation kept the energy pulsating throughout the night. Tracks like “Sink Into The Soil” and “Daylight” resonated deeply, with fans singing along to every word, while newer releases solidified their growth as artists.

A BITTERSWEET GOODBYE

Perhaps the most memorable moment of the night came during the final song, where Jono expressed gratitude for the band’s incredible year. It was clear that this wasn’t just a farewell to 2024 but a heartfelt thankyou to the fans who have supported Bloom through their journey. The intimacy of the venue made every word and note feel personal, leaving the audience in awe as the final chords faded out.

REFLECTIONS ON 2024

This show wasn’t just the end of a chapter for Bloom, it was a triumphant reflection of a year that saw them breaking barriers and taking their music to new heights. Their US tour marked a pivotal moment in their career and their ability to translate that momentum into a powerful homecoming gig proves they’re a force to be reckoned with.

Bloom was our shows most requested Aussie band of 2024 and in my personal hot take, one of the greatest upcoming heavy bands that are going to take the entire world by storm in the coming years.

THE VERDICT

Bloom’s performance at Black Bear Lodge wasn’t just a gig for me, it was an emotional rollercoaster, a celebration of success, and a heartfelt promise of what’s to come. As they continue to grow and captivate audiences worldwide, it’s clear that Bloom’s future is as bright as their name suggests. If this final show of 2024 was any indication, 2025 will undoubtedly hold even bigger moments for this rising powerhouse.

If you weren’t there, you missed something truly special. But don’t worry, you can relive the magic through our full coverage and keep an eye out for what Bloom has in store next year. Maybe in a future interview? a live peformance in the studio? Who knows. Dare to dream. Bloom is a perfect example on that.
