we hit up the hamilton station hotel aka 'the hammo' in hamilton, Newcastle to celebrate 10 years of booking shows with booking agent, spencer scott.

we attended the first night of the weekend with performances from boudicca, melvic centre, soyboy (rip) and the tryouts.
it was an amazing turnout with familiar faces filling the room, good food, delicious drinks and banging music.
the hammo is one of the very few venues that hosts heavier music. so make sure you keep up to date with their gig guide.
spencer has been the booking agent for the hammo since 2016! he also manages top loader gigs and he's the bassist of FÄHM, a punk and blues band. yes, they go together quite well. give 'em a listen!
prior to being a booking agent, spencer was a musician working with bands and solo artists. some of his most succesful shows was a 30 years of silver chair featuring covers of the band (of course) by stag temple pilots, stomp and myrtlesque.
also his full venue mini festival full on arvo featuring cry club, bad neighbour, where's jimmy and more!
theres been some huge names at the hammo like touche amore, mac the knife, comeback kid, taking back Saturday emo nights, mortal sin, and spite.
spencer has some bands on his radar that he would love to have at the hammo like press club and spiderbait.
like me, spencer believes that on the hand experience is the best way to get in the field. of course, courses are handy to have but they're not necessary. it's how a lot of bands start out.
being a booking agent is a lot of work. you meet so many people who share common interests and get to see cool bands. it's also very unpredictable.

it's a lot of late nights, early mornings. it's not like a regular 9-5 job.
though a metalhead at heart, he tries to cater to all genres and niches without them over powering each other so if you're an artist or a band that wants a cool venue with an aweosme atmosphere. you can contact spencer directly here
the hammo has 5 live shows a week, some ticketed and some free. they have awesome drink specials and happy hour from 5pm to 7pm. they have pool competitions, karaoke, trivia nights, meat & veg raffles, poker nights and more. you can find all the details over on their website here
