Goddess of chaos Zheani has just dropped a brand new single from her upcoming first full-length album!
‘naked’ is a hypnotic ode to vulnerability, reflection and feminine strength.
Produced by King Yosef, ‘naked’ blends elements of witchhouse, glitchy electronic, drum & bass and dark ambient to concoct a sound that defies genre, in typical Zheani fashion.
Piercing electronic-tinged vocals are layered against a backdrop of chaotic and fractured sonic textures to create an entrancing cacophony. Moments of abrasion come through in Zheani’s vocals, making the track just that much more impactful.
The track features evocative lyrics that are rife with imagery, making references to recurring themes that are prevalent in Zheani’s work such as the darkness of fame, family trauma and tenacity.
“I’ve been laid bare along the way And faded like my family name”.
The repeating of the word “echo” throughout the track becomes an echo in itself, perhaps a reference to the nymph of Greek mythology, but also a way to demonstrate that Zheani through her voice and her art will be heard.
‘Naked’ is accompanied by a visually stunning vibrant and eccentric music video, directed by Mik Shida, which highlights Zheani’s iconic style and iconography.
Zheani’s debut full length album is due to be released sometime later this year, the current release date unknown and shrouded in mystery.
