canberra metalcore quartet wyndfall have unleashed their debut single "butterflies" onto the metal scene. wyndfall talked about their writing process for the track, stating: "This song started as a heavy, anthem-like chorus that expanded into an emotional song about

heartbreak and loneliness. Once all instrumentals and lyrics were complete, a demo was used for practice until getting into a recording studio early 2025. Vocals were recorded there, with DI files for instrumentals being sent for final mixing and mastering."

"butterflies" begins with the energetic sentiment of someone calling out to a lost lover, and the desperate plea to have them stay for just one more night. "i'm just reaching out again because lately i've been thinking things just haven't been the same". you are taken lyrically and musically through the turmoil of a lost love and all the emotions that come with that; hope for renewal of the affection, passion, grief and despair. "can we start again, because I don't want to stay here if it's just a wicked game"

the tormented screams , scaling riffs, hard hitting drums, chunky breakdown and angelic cleans will have you all inside of your feelings, as wyndfall pulls you through the heartache of broken love, and how it feels to come to terms that it is really over. "maybe we can play pretend. maybe we can start again. maybe it was never real. you're falling away. why can't I make you stay?"

this song is a testiment to how it feels "when there are no more butterflies". if you are looking for a breakup song to scream at the top of your lungs, you have found it.

wyndfall will be performing for the first time at 'the baso' in Canberra on June 20, alongside switch up, arbiter and herald. doors open at 7pm for the 18+, unless accompanied by a guardian event.
