i don't know about everyone else, but some of us here at hot and heavy have have been to our first shows of the year and we're all talking about what's next. so lets take a look at some of the shows the team is looking forward to!
em - I'm really excited for superheaven on tour with angel du$t. i've been a fan of superheaven for a while but hadn't looked too deep into their activity with touring, so i was pretty stoked they announced their return to australia! i'm a new fan of angel du$t, but i'm so excited to see them live. i can only imagine their energy is going to be a lot of fun, especially with the new music!
ethan - i'm over the moon that i have the opportunity to see linkin park. it's something i never expected after the passing of chester bennington.
i grew up listening to linkin park and i wish i could have seen them when my mum went in 2010 (i get jealous when i watch her videos from that tour). even though it will never be the same without chester, i'll still get to hear the music i grew up with and it will be a dream come true.
rob - i'm excited to see soulfly's gig with nailbomb and snot.
i never thought i'd be able to see snot live and it's gonna be insane since they are 90's nu-metal legends.
also seeing soulfly is going to be insane. i absolutely love what max cavalera has done with soulfly, but the opportunity to see him play 2 sets (one with soulfly, the other with nailbomb) is something i never thought i'd see.
tilly - thornhill with amira elfeky, paledusk and heavensgate on the bodies tour in feburary!
i haven't seen thornhill in a couple of years and Bodies was one of my favourite albums last year so i'm super keen to hear it live. plus, paledusk and heavensgate are both insane and i haven't seen either before. i can't wait to see how they are live.
jake - the plot in you is going to be fucking rad!! also the same for pierce the veil later this year!! (i think it's safe to say jake is just utterly excited for all things coming our way)
hayes - i'm really keen for bloom on valentines day at the hamo (newcastle).
their more intimate shows are my favourite. to see these guys doing a show at one of their first venues outside of sydney after they've been signed to a new label, done several us and european tours. it's so nice to see them not forget their roots and for old times sake doing the show at the hamo when the king street hotel is right around the corner. this is what i love to see from larger aussie bands. it keeps the relationship with original fans strong.
keely - emo extravaganza, rain city drive and lifes a beach festival are all up there for me.
emo extravaganza, for the nostalgia of it all (hot chelle rae, cmon!)
rain city drive i rinsed for months in 2023 and forced just about anyone that got into my car to listen as well.
lifes a beach festival has a goated line up! polaris, we came as romans, caskets and more! plus who doesn't love a festival on the beach on valentines day!
i've only been to one other gig at the riveria beach club, but there's something so magical about singing and dancing along to live music with your friends while watching the sunset.
tia - i'm most excited for sylvaine and eivor in march! their music is so magical and etheral, i'm so excited to be able to experience it live.
i'm also keen for abbath later this month after his 2021 tour was cancelled due to covid.
keely - i'm super keen for lambrini girls! i've loved them for a while and i'm super keen to finally see them live. they have some really powerful songs i can't wait to scream along to and i just love some fantastic fem-fronted punk rock!
so my beautiful readers, stay tuned for the adventures of the hot & heavy crew as we embark on our journey's bouncing from show to show across australia in 2026.
