Haunting female-fronted alt-metal band Twisted Lullaby have just dropped a blood-chilling new single, and it is definitely their darkest song yet.
‘Murder Me’ is thematically harrowing, told from the perspective of a man who brutally murders his lover. Through powerful lilting vocals, lead singer Shay conveys the sheer horror and despair of this story.

maintaining a late 90’s/early 2000’s nu-metal vibe and sound, 'Murder Me' features heavy chugging riffs and adrenaline induced rhythms, tinged with a cinematic edge. The track opens with the words “light’s out” eerily whispered, immediately setting the chilling tone and atmosphere.
Lyrics like “till death as some would say”, "I'll stab your pretty face" and "I'll watch you scream and cry" really drive the horror-filled narrative.
I absolutely loved The duality between Shay's melodic vocals and the harshness of the instrumentation throughout this song. This contrast really cements Twisted Lullaby's sound and makes them stand out sonically.
One of my favourite moments in this track was the bridge around the halfway point, with ghostly layered vocals featuring background gutturals and sound effects like a sharpened knife being drawn.

Overall, 'Murder Me' had me feeling adequately disturbed but definitely infatuated with Twisted Lullaby and their sound. After listening to some of their other tracks like 'Siren Song' I was absolutely impressed with their ability to craft atmosphere through their sound and Shay's hypnotic vocals.
You will definitely want to check these guys out, especially if you're a fan of bands like Evanescence, Jack Off Jill & The Birthday Massacre.
