Brewhouse productions presented "BrewFest 2025", which took place at Mansfield tavern in

queensland on Saturday october 4th, with the doors opening at 11.30am. WE THE HOLLOW exhibited WITH THEIR ONLY live performance

ree

of 2025. the event showcased eleven bands coming from Sydney, Bundaberg, the sunshine coast and all over south east queensland for the event, with copecaine making their stage debut, and dirty brew's final Brisbane show, it was bound to be a memorable event. so let's get into it and introduce you all to the bands and a few notes of how the night went. Just a disclaimer, I did unfortunately have to leave at the end of we the hollow so I didn't get to witness bridge left to burn or f.u.c.

copecaine 12.50-1.20

Brisbane hard rock 4 piece copecaine were set for their first show so I had no idea what to expect coming into their performance. while

ree

it was evident there were the expected nerves of a first show, the band had a very clear sound and singer Shawn has a powerful voice. Their music style wouldn't go amiss in the south of north America, with some barbecue and whisky. overall great performance and the crowd seemed to enjoy themselves.

rimmy grasa 1.40-2.10

sunshine coast hardcore quintet rimmy grasa have been releasing music since 2020 and have two eps "los muertos" and "forever in out" (2025) "Rimmy Grasa bring their own raw heavy brand of sound to the Australian heavy music scene. Opening the stage for heavy acts such as Zuko, Total Buzzkill and Grip Down." - via spotify

if you want to two-step and get called australia's favourite word, this is the band for you. their set was aggressively high energy and full of moments to throw down in the pit if that is your kind of thing. I am extremely excited to see them perform again in Toowoomba on the 11th of October.

kaosphere 2.30-3

"Kaosphere is a 5 piece metal band with 90s infused nu school riffing, but also some death metal and thrash metal and melodic metal vibes, the band is a gold coast band, and was formed in 2015." - via spotify

kaosphere debuted their single "forsaking shadow" in 2017 and have since released two albums "kaosphere" (2018) and "in scars we trust" (2024).

I was impressed by the overall performance, with the heavy energy filling the room. the band as a whole knows how to work a stage and I was especially taken in by the vocalist, who came swinging out of the gate with full vocal techniques on display.

seven enemies 3.20-3.50

Brisbane Heavy hard rock band seven enemies burst onto the scene in 2020 with their single "end of you", followed by "body feeder" (2023) and "when the beast calls" (2023). seven enemies have previously performed on hollow fest (2024), munk and petal(2023), Brewfest (2023), rumble on the coast (2023) and nowhere festival (2024) amongst many others.

seven enemies is a band that oozes stage presence. from the second they stepped on stage they filled the room with charisma and classic rock star energy. while they aren't my personal taste in music I still had a great time watching them and would happily do so again for performance value alone.

You can find seven enemies on: spotify, apple music, facebook, instagram and youtube

born again hypocrite

Brisbane five piece metal band born again hypocrite debuted in 2021 with EP "scamdemic" and have since released single "the shallows" in January this year.

born again hypocrite had to pull out due to a medical emergency, but I would like to bring light to the band anyway as they were meant to be on the stage.

the brown sizza 4.10-4.40

the Brown Sizza debuted onto the scene in 2023 with their single "fish money" and have since released their albums "not your cup of tea" in March this year.

hyper sexual music is not my vibe so I will state that first because that will need to be taken into account with my opinion on the Brown Sizza's set. the band stepped onto the stage and you knew they were their for a good time, with one guitarist dressed in a ginger wig, short pink dress and fake testicles hanging out the bottom. the crowd went wild for their antics throwing in the most energy of the day at this point. during several moments, the hyper-sexual nature of the performance did make me uncomfortable but that was in my own personal taste. musically the band performed well, with a very clean vocal performance. they would not disappoint if you are a fan of a theatrical show.

ancient remains 5-5.30

ancient remains hit the scene in 2022 with their debut single "stuck". the Brisbane heavy rock four piece have since released their ep "burn it all" (2024) and single "take it away" (2024).

ancient remains debuted their second singer for this set, and while it was evident their were some nerves the band performed extremely well, with the original singer flipping his hair around, jumping, kicking and prowling around the stage in a way that pulled you away from any nerves. the band was one on the list I was most excited to see and I was not disappointed.

nuclearsaurus rex 5.50-6.20

Brisbane Crossover Thrash band singing songs about Nuclear Dinosaurs! - via facebook nuclearsaurus rex have released their album "pegasus Ezekiel" (2021) and EP "operation party destroy" (2024) thus far.

I unfortunately missed the start of nuclearsaurus rex's set, but I came into the show just as the t-rex suit was introduced to the stage. the t-rex definitely bought in an extra element to the show, that had me giggling watching him pretend to eat guitarist's heads and join the pit area. all-in -all the band definitely know how to work a crowd and bought a silliness to the day that was a welcome addition, lightening the mood in the room.

dirty brew 6.40-7.20

Brisbane heavy metal band dirty brew formed in 2013. dirty brew have one EP to their name "the EP" released in 2017. dirty brew have previously supported hed p.e, hardcore superstar and fozzy.

dirty brew proved that they knew exactly how to work a crowd. they stepped onto that stage like they owned it and were only going to give that space back when they decided it was time to let it go. the crowd were ruckus and receptive, calling the band for "one last song" at the end of their set, causing the members to figure out a song on the spot. I had never seen dirty brew live before so I was glad I got to catch their final Brisbane performance.

we the hollow 7.50-8.50

Brisbane nu-metal five piece, we the hollow have been releasing music since 2021 with their debut single "spineless", followed by EP "self revelation" (2022) and several singles including "screen time" in May this year. we the hollow have previously performed as opener to machine head and fear factory.

at this point if you have spoken to me for more than five minutes, you probably know I am a fan of we the hollow, and can see them soaring to great heights with their music. we the hollow were the biggest draw card for me at BrewFest and they did not disappoint. they were afforded the longest set, with one hour of play time. the highly energetic and ferocious performance on several occasions found members of the band performing in the pit, getting in the faces of barricade members and throwing hats etc into the crowd. this show marked the debut of newest member of the band in the form of their drummer, who blew me away with his performance. this showed also marked the first live play of "screen time" which went over extremely well with the crowd. we the hollow seem to have a cult following and I cannot wait to see them back at full speed next year after the comment of new music being made.

You can find we the hollow on: spotify, apple music, facebook, instagram, youtube and tiktok

bridge left to burn 9.10-9.40

"bridge left to burn are a dynamic female-fronted metalcore band based in Sydney, Australia. They released their debut EP "bitter endings" in October 2023, showcasing their unique sound, blending heavy riffs, powerful vocals and melodic hooks with emotionally charged lyrics." - via spotify. B.L.T.B have previously supported atreyu.

I am hoping to catch bridge left to burn the next time they are in Brisbane as I was disappointed to miss them.

f.u.c 10-10.40

f.u.c is a 2 Piece Environmental Nu-Thrash band from Brisbane. they have one EP to their name, "everythink" which was released in October 2023.

I did miss f.u.c unfortunately, so I cannot report on how their set went, but I am hoping to catch them some time soon.
