As someone who has been playing The Sims for the majority of her life, one of the coolest parts of the world-building in this franchise is the Simlish covers of real songs that are recorded for and included in each Sims game.

If you're not a fellow simmer you're probably thinking "wtf is simlish"? Well, Simlish is an entirely made up language written purely for use in the world of The Sims in order to leave the story-telling entirely up to the imagination of the player.

The most iconic part about these Simlish versions is that the actual artists and bands had their lyrics re-written into Simlish and they actually re-recorded their songs for the purpose of being played in The Sims universe. How cool, right?

There's a certain kitschiness and a campy quality to these covers, with the Sims teAM SELECTING a multitude of artists covering DIFFERENT music genres THAT reflect the pop culture at the time each game was released. tHERE WAS kATY pERRY & lILY aLLEN IN tHE sIMS 2, sOULJA bOY & 3OH!3 in The Sims 3 and finally, modern artists like Ashnikko & Beabadoobee in The Sims 4.

This video for Natasha Bedingfield's "Pocketful of Sunshine" is literally sooooo iconic

Anyway, enough yapping from me. Without further ado, here is a list of my favourite Simlish covers of well-known heavy songs, with the audio attached for each for your listening pleasure! Enjoy :)

Myrkur - "Onde Børn"

This gorgeously heavy song was released in 2020 with the Sims 4: Nifty Knitting stuff pack, which hilariously included the metal station to the in-game radio. As we all know, knitting is extremely metal 🤘

This is a super cool behind the scenes view of the recording process & a chat with Myrkur about her experience :)

My Chemical Romance - "Na Na Na"

I'm not ashamed to say that hearing this cover while playing The Sims was what made this song my favourite from My Chemical romance. This one was included with The Sims 3: Late Night expansion pack which included vampires, bars and celebrities to the game. Seems fitting.

This video has the Simlish Lyrics too :)

Paramore - "Pressure"

"Pressure" was originally included in The Sims 2 for console, which I absolutely abused my original xbox playing my pirated copy of. Being like eight years old and hearing this song in-game definitely changed my brain chemistry though.

Flyleaf - "Cassie"

This song was recorded for The Sims 2 "Teen Style Stuff’" pack that was released in 2007. This pack introduced the Metal radio station to the game, which also featured songs from Machine Head and SCary Kids Scaring Kids.

Amyl And The Sniffers - "Do It Do It"

Aussie simmers got some rep when this cover was released with The Sims 4: Businesses & Hobbies expansion pack in 2025. Some other Australian artists to also be included in The Sims radio are The Veronicas, Jessica Mauboy, Violent Soho & Mallrat.

Lacuna Coil - "Kill The Light"

Last, but definitely not least, is this awesome Lacuna Coil cover which was included with The Sims 3: Supernatural expansion pack in 2012. This pack was everything my angsty tween pre-gothic self wanted out of a game, with its inclusion of the Dark Wave station and bringing witches, werewolves and more into the game. this song is definitely a core memory from that era lol.

Which songs would you love to hear a simlish cover of? I personally have a huge list, but I would love to hear what you guys think! ♡

(Also, if you're a simmer, let me know what the most unhinged thing that you've done to your Sims hehe)
