MY FRIEND CHLOE- 'I CAN'T WAIT TO LIVE' Single Review

Brisbane-based Post Punk band MY FRIEND CHLOE have just released an electric new track exploring the brutality of existence in 2025.

‘I CAN’T WAIT TO LIVE’ accurately pinpoints the current state of being alive as it is right now; the noise, confusion, harshness and distress of reality are perfectly encapsulated through this track.

This track is darkly energetic, with pulsing beats and intricately melodic rhythms that merge together in complexity. The sonic texture is complicated and chaotic, yet wholly cathartic and freeing. It's the type of song that makes you want to dance around wildly in your room and completely shut out the outside noise for a moment.

Lyrics like “I can't wait to live, I've just been surviving” and “We took precautions to be a danger to ourselves” are particularly hard-hitting and relatable for those struggling in these tumultuous times.

Described by producer Cody McWaters (The Chats, King Stingray, Radium Dolls) as "like The Prodigy inspiring a Tarantino film", this track is wholly unafraid to bare its teeth and grin.

From their witty abstract lyrics to dynamic angular sound, MY FRIEND CHLOE is definitely one to keep an eye on. Only being their second released track, I am wholly looking forward to seeing what this razor-sharp post punk six piece will bring in the future!
