Mainstream GOES METAL

Let’s not deny that we all listen to artists outside of heavy music—whether it’s Sabrina Carpenter, Harry Styles, or others across pop and beyond. After all, where would we be without nu-metal, pop-punk, and the genres that blur those lines?

Still, I think we’ve all had that thought: “this artist could actually crush a heavy or metal album.”

So, I’ve curated this list and also asked the crew to chip in with their takes!

Halsey

She's been very vocal on her love for heavy music and how much she's wanted to do a heavy album. With recent events at festivals its clear she's been testing the waters with some heavier versions of her songs, which has resulted in circle pits forming. Along with her recent collaboration with producer Jordan Fish we could be in for real treat!

Lady Gaga

We all know mother can absolutely put on one

hell of a live performance. WE know that she is the one standing up for the weirdos, outcasts and misfits. Her releasing a heavy/metal album just feels fitting. PLus she can belt it out with Metallica...need i say more?

Demi Lovato

now i hear you she's done a rock versions of her songs and released the album "Holy fvck" with a more heavy sound. But i want more....Give me some collabs with bands like Knocked Loose or A Day to remember!

Reece Mastin

If you were an Aussie teen in the early 2010s,

you’ll know Reece Mastin — the 2011 X Factor Australia winner who dominated pop-rock radio back in the day. Now he’s been teasing a heavy metal album on social media, and honestly… we need a release date ASAP.

She's a very experimental musician who could definately eat a challenge like this up. Creating something unique with an industrial / gothic vibe.

Post Malone

Are we forgetting he started his music journey in a metalcore band? He also dropped a song with the late great Ozzy Osbourne "Take what you want" and then just not follow it up. POSt we need a metal album pronto!

Denzel curry

Coming off his recent collaboration with knocked loose, which is amazing!

His rap style and instrumentals are already of a heavier calibre than the average rapper. It would be pretty cool to see him take it further!

  • She would definately ace a metal album where she mixed her current style with something heavier

• Panic! At The Disco

  • We know there's something existing and are already prominent mentions in the elder emo world, but we need a metal comeback

• Kesha 

  • Like Rihanna would totally be an interesting sounding album

• Megan The Stallion

  • Did a collab with Spiritbox, as a fellow metalhead I think she'd like this challenge

• Doja Kat

  • that metal/heavy rock version she did at the VMA's was unreal so why not make it a whole album?

• Lana Del Rey

  • A very gothic and ethereal sounding album would be what the world needs. Something similar to the sound of Sleep token or Ghost

• Twenty One Pilots

  • Will ramos (Lorna shore) did a cover of one of their and it worked really well. Would like to see them take it on!

• Kelly Clarkson

  • She's just a natural Powerhouse of a singer. Like Lana Del Rey I think she'd really ace the gothy vibe music. Something similar to evanescence...give me a collab asap!
