After 13 years, Kublai Khan TX guitarist Nolan Ashley announces his departure from the band.

This afternoon, the Texas hardcore band took to Instagram to share the news, posting a heartfelt statement from Nolan:

"After 13 incredible years, it’s with a heavy heart that I announce my departure from Kublai Khan TX. Matt, Eric, and Isaac are my family, and every moment spent with you all has been a cherished memory. I wouldn’t trade any of it for the world.

In 2023, with the incredible support of my band, my family, and everyone who offered kind words or a dime to help, I was able to undergo the surgery my doctors had long recommended. Since my disc replacement surgery and the extensive physical therapy that followed, I’ve faced challenges I never anticipated. Unfortunately, my grip strength hasn’t returned, and I can no longer play the songs I helped write live. It’s a difficult goodbye—not the one I ever imagined for myself—but I know this is the right decision.

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to my amazing life partner and my beautiful daughters for their unwavering support throughout this journey. It hasn’t been easy, and your love means everything to me.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me and Kublai Khan TX through the years. You’ll never fully understand what a dream it’s been and how deeply grateful I am.

Be seein’ ya,

Nolan"

Nolan cites long-term complications with grip strength and his ability to play live, stemming from cervical disk complications and surgery, which he has been facing for quite some time.

Filling in for Nolan during his recovery was Australia’s own Nicholas Adams of Justice for the Damned and Whatever, Forever. He will now officially join Kublai Khan TX as their permanent guitarist.

While Nolan’s departure is a difficult and emotional moment for fans and the band alike, we thank him for his years of passion, creativity and music. His contributions to the scene will never be forgotten.

We also look forward to what Nicholas will bring to the table, and are proud to see an Aussie joining the Texas Heat.

Thank you, Nolan Ashley.
