Darwin's metalcore outfit Koh have delivered a 7-track EP that feels both incredibly beautiful and painfully disgusting at the same time and honestly i'm in awe! The production on this one is flawless and KOH are such a tight band with an immense live energy even through studio recordings.
'Golden Death' explores the idea of transformation into something newer and greater in rebirth.
"The term Golden Death, to me, means a different type of end. One that is more sacred and not as grounded in the physical end of something living and breathing. It is change, one so painful and great, '...It feels like needles deep in (my) skin".
-Vocalist Andy Kala.

Beginning with 'Aurea Mors' at just 46 seconds total, This track is a Siren!! I am immediately lured into the EP. Ending this with a reverse reverb sound was a nice touch to perfectly transition into track 2.
'Blasphemous' practically knocked me off my chair. It felt less like needles and more like an electric shock with the way the guitars slammed in on the drop. This track is full of surprises, It starts so volatile but transcends into a chorus layered with such sonically pleasing harmonies. Not to mention there's another drop with a half-time tempo change that completely threw me in the best way. Well played KOH, You have kept me guessing through the entire song.
'River Mirror' was immediately my favourite track upon hearing the opening riff. This felt like the perfect soundtrack for a getaway mission. I can imagine this in the climax scene of a thriller movie for sure. I also can't get over how good the descending bass is just before the chorus. Overall the instrumentation on this track reminds me of 'Diamond Eyes' era 'deftones.'
The title track 'Golden Death' is a sort of reprieve to the EP, It feels like everything has been wrapped up in a gold ribbon with shimmering, atmospheric Guitars and what i believe are splash cymbals adding an extra bit of flavour to the mix. It's such an upbeat track that exudes greatness, especially with the addition of the chorus backing vocals!
I thoroughly enjoyed every second of the 'Golden Death' EP by KOH. And I urge you all to go listen! Or if you are in the Northen Territory go see them live !!

You can Stream 'Golden Death' on all platforms, EP Out now!!
