HEALTH- 'YOU DIED' Single Review

HEALTH have released the fourth brand new single from their upcoming album, a melancholic and mournful track that exposes the very vulnerability of what it means to be human.
‘YOU DIED’ takes a slightly different approach from the vibes of the previously released tracks from ‘CONFLICT DLC’, with witch house, trap and industrial elements coming to the forefront.
Atmospheric and heavy, delicate vocals deliver pained lyrics over soft glitchy beats.
Getting its name from the iconic ‘Dark Souls’ videogame death screen, ‘YOU DIED’ deals with themes of loss and mortality, speaking to the universal concept of death and the intimate relationship that we each have with it. The chorus repeats the lines:
“You’re dead
I’ll be like you
You’ll be like me
I’ll be dead too”
Speaking on death as an inevitability which we all must come to terms with.
As a big HEALTH fan, ‘YOU DIED’ is HEALTH at their most raw and authentic. In addition to ‘THOUGHT LEADER’, ‘VIBE COP’ and ‘ORDINARY LOSS’ I think ‘CONFLICT DLC’ will be one of their most significant albums yet.
‘CONFLICT DLC’ will be dropped on December 11th via Loma Vista Recordings.
