brisbane's own nu-metal provocateurs headwreck are back with a banger ep "attitude adjustment"

the attitude adjustment ep contains 6 songs, 5 of which have been released as singles over the last 14 months with one brand new track left for lucky last!
starting off the ep is "filet-o-fish" a single which was released mid april this year. hot and heavy's journalist tia was honoured to review this as a single months ago and you can read about it here.
second we have one of my favourites by headwreck, "low blow!"
this was my introduction song to the band and what got me hooked instantly & for good reason. you're instantly thrown into the deep end with a hard riff and an electronic symphony, with unapologetic sharp tones and hip-hop tinged vocals before the chorus explodes with rage. LOW BLOW IS SUCH A CREATIVE BACK & FORTH, FIERCE MASTERPIECE THAT STANDS OUT STRONG AND NEVER FAILS TO PUMP ME UP.
third on the ep is "plan z" which starts off with an iconic sample from spongebob.
Plan z sets a compelling tone featuring a lot of clean vocals from jamo, then diving into the harsh vocals from frontman, connor. this contrast gives the track both melody and bite. the instrumentals stand out with glitchy texture & heavy riffing, yet continues to be catchy and aggressive. i particularly like at 1:27 mark into the song the change of pace, accelerating the tension and heaviness the band is able to give.
moving onto another statement piece from headwreck, "buzzsaw" THE GUITAR AND BASS PACKS THE HARDEST PUNCH ILLUMINATING THE TRACK THE SECOND IT BEGINS, WHILE we move through different vocal STYLES and sonic atmospheres. THE EXPLOSIVENESS OF EACH VOCALIST & INSTRUMENT COMBINED WITH THE ETHERAL ELECTRONICS AND GLITCH ELEMENTS IS BEYOND POWERFUL AND DARING.
the latest single release from headwreck is "bingo!"
the track is described by the band as "a little bit of everything headwreck has to offer." in comparison from earlier releases, i can hear everything headwreck has ever made poured into this singular track. it's playful, relentless, authentic and creatively aligns very well with the band's known talent.
bingo! is full of dirty riffing, blasting drum beats and lyrical attitude, which truly sets the tone for the ep.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST, THE FINAL TRACK "RAZOR"
BRAND NEW, UNHEARD AND READY FOR CONSUMPTION.
YOU HAVE LITERALLY 3 SECONDS TO STRAP IN FOR THE RIDE AS RAZOR IS INSTANTLY EXPLOSIVE WITH FAST PACED HEAVY RIFFS, violent drum beats and deadly vocals... until WE'RE MET WITH A MELODY OF CLEAN VOCALS from jamo.
razor is a new side to headwreck that we didn't know we were waiting for.
i feel as though i am hearing the band dropping the tough guy act and the beginning of the group embracing their softer side with emotional vulnerability and a new version of genuine passion for music, while keeping things sharp and collaborative as usual.
i've thoroughly enjoyed this ep and honestly can't rate it high enough. each track is unique, showcasing the band's talents individually and as a team. their ability to share the spotlight of vocals, while each layer of instrumentals, electronics and harmonies is impactful and creative.
