first off we had rats in the walls and now we are "seeing things" with deadskin's latest drop. Deadskin are a metalcore band from naarm / Melbourne, formed in 2022 who put their pain

into their music in such a hauntingly beautiful way that will have you unnerved and simultaneously drawn in from the beginning. their use of brutal breakdowns and chaotic heartfelt lyricism is suffocating and oppressive in all the right ways for a heavy band. if you are after a gently ease you in song, this is not the one for you. it will have you by your throat against a wall from the first second and will not let you go until it is done.

"I've been seeing things,

Dreadful, living life like this Scratching, until my skin begins to open Up, so you can see my insecurities

They're pouring out, they're pouring out

I thought that I was more than this

But God had nothing planned for me

This is all I've fucking got

I will never get enough"

"WITH UNRELENTING HEAVINESS AND EERIE, SPINE-CHILLING ATMOSPHERES, DEADSKIN HAVE CEMENTED THEMSELVES AS ONE OF AUSTRALIA’S MOST EXCITING HEAVY ACTS TO WATCH." ED ATLAS, WALL OF SOUND

I will admit that I listen to Deadskin on quite a regular basis, however it still blows me away how well they portray pain through their music, not only vocally but also instrumentally. They manage to capture the unravelling self-deprecation and lack of hope in a nuanced way that supports the lyrics that they play alongside. the final moments of this song with the sudden quite, low tortured screams and mechanical breathing

sounds creates an environment of despair that hits harder than any ferocious and aggressive noise ever could. this track hits my heart in the same way that "numb" by Linkin park used to in my angsty teenage years. I believe this song will become one of their most talked about tracks and I cannot wait to see what other new music will proceed "seeing things".

"I write, so I can cope, With living life inside myself, I've been seeing things, I've been seeing things, These days I don't even hardly sleep, Let alone process the things I see right in front of me, These days I don't even understand, Why I can't be the man that I chose to be, Fuck, I'm all fucked up"
