for the fans of beatdown hardcore such as kublai khan tx, justice for the damned, or pain of truth - this one is for you.

i've personally been telling anyone who will hear me talk, that they need to go stream "backbiter" a hardcore band from toledo ohio, who describes themselves as hate music, and for good reason.

i first discovered their 2024 single "dog eat dog" and i've been hooked ever since. this hard hitting, destructive band have been releasing banger after banger in forms of multiple singles, an ep and now their second album "misery tapes. vol 1: suffer eternal" released may 2025.

their lyrics are dark, angry and impossible to ignore. from expressing the hatred and disgust for predators & abusers in the world and the things we all want to say/do to them - to the most self deprecating and brutalistic desire to die, all delivered by the meanest vocals imaginable. backbiter has a song for every ounce of anger you've ever felt.

not only are their lyrics powerful, but so are their instrumentals. the heaviest of breakdowns, the highest of pinchies, and the deadliest stomach dropping bass tones i've ever heard - every aspect of this band is fucking filthy and we are here for it.

if you don't believe me, here are some of my favourite quotes from the comment section of their youtube videos:

"it's like every time there's a breakdown within a breakdown, there's still room for another breakdown."

"the bass tone could ghost me and i'd still be stoked about our time together."

"i'll never understand how their drums survive a full set. ultimate muscle."

"this song got me moving like an invasive species."

"this band is so hard i left my dad for a pack of smokes and i am not coming back."

now, are you convinced yet? you should be... because while the purpose of this blog is to shine a light on an amazing band that deserves the recognition, i'm also writing this as a desperate aussie hardcore fan, begging for an australian tour.

so... to the members of backbiter, if you're reading this - just know that australia is listening, and we can't wait to welcome you to our buzzing scenes one day.
