Melbourne-based metalcore band ATLVS return with their latest single Soulsucker, a powerful track that is ferocious high energy meets raw emotional darkness.

Released at the beginning of the month, this track is the first release of the year for ATLVS and marks a new chapter following the band’s brief hiatus since 2023.

Soulsucker is immediately explosive, providing a unique blend of chaotic metalcore with glitchy electronic and industrial elements. The rest of the track is defined by dynamic breakdowns, unfiltered energy and soul-crushing riffs.

The vocals are raw and brutal, dripping with anguish and fueled by rage. Lyrically, the track deals with very dark and heavy themes such as emotional abuse and toxic relationships. Whispered vocals highlight the pain behind lines such as “I’m never letting you in ‘cause you're a soulsucker”.

Towards the end of the track, the tempo and sound shift as a pulsing electronic bassline leads to a final moment of release and reclamation.

Sonically, Soulsucker is like Atreyu meets Electric Callboy. The distinctive mix of bruising metalcore brutality with experimental electronic aspects creates an impactful sound that enhances the heavy themes and lyrics, which is engaging as a listener.
