Michigan metalcore heavyweights, We Came As Romans, have officially announced their new full-length album, ‘ALL IS BEAUTIFUL…BECAUSE WE’RE DOOMED’, which is set for release on Friday, August 22 via Sharptone Records. Alongside this announcement, the band has unveiled their third single from the record, “Culture Wound”, accompanied by a powerful new music video.
Following the release of previous singles “Bad Luck” and “No Rest for the Dreamer,” “Culture Wound” dives deeper into the album’s central theme: the inner conflict between light and darkness within human nature. The song poses a timeless existential question: are we inherently good or bad? and explores the internal, external battles that shape us as individuals. “Culture Wound” serves as both a sonic assault and a philosophical meditation on first listen.
Known for fusing groove-heavy metalcore with ethereal electronics, We Came As Romans have carved a unique niche in the modern heavy music scene as they transcend the barriers of genre to shape themselves. The Michigan-born quintet, Dave Stephens, Joshua Moore, Lou Cotton, Andy Glass, and David Puckett, first broke out with 2013’s ‘Tracing Back Roots’, which debuted in the Billboard 200 Top 10 and hit #1 on both the Independent Albums and Top Hard Rock Albums charts. Their self-titled 2015 follow-up solidified their place and tone, peaking at #11 on the Billboard 200.
In 2018, the band was met with the deeply tragic passing of Kyle Pavone, their original vocalist. This heartbreaking moment was followed by the act continuing to honor his legacy, most notably with Darkbloom (2022), their most critically acclaimed release to date. The album spawned massive tracks like “Black Hole” (feat. Caleb Shomo) with over 102 million streams and “Daggers” (feat. Zero 9:36), surpassing 32 million streams. The likes of Loudwire and Consequence applauding the record for it’s emotional range, sonic heft, and unapologetic vulnerability.
ALL IS BEAUTIFUL…BECAUSE WE’RE DOOMED

‘ALL IS BEAUTIFUL…BECAUSE WE’RE DOOMED’ marks a transformative chapter for We Came As Romans, showcasing their most conceptually ambitious and emotionally raw work to date. Built around the band's own triumph and tragedy, the record is said to be explorative in the cycles of life: existentialism, gratitude, and loss. The album is structured to loop seamlessly from end to beginning, inspired by philosophical notions of death and rebirth, to highlight the integral representation that every ending contains the seed of a new beginning.
The record was forged in the aftermath of 2022’s acclaimed Darkbloom, an album steeped in grief and catharsis following their loss Kyle. An intensive creative process that saw the band turn inward, with each track tying to a specific moment or period in the band's history, creating a sonic autobiography rooted in gratitude, reflection, and resilience.
“Culture Wound,” in particular, exemplifies the band’s current stature. Committed to pushing creative boundaries, extensively reworked over time, the track anchors the album’s exploration of duality, identity, and the human condition.
What’s Next?
We Came As Romans are set to support the release by embarking on their Bad Luck World Tour, kicking off July 22 in Toronto. The North American leg culminates in a momentous homecoming show at The Fillmore Detroit on August 23, one day after the album drops.
The band will then head overseas for a European and UK run this fall, with stops at major festivals including Warped Tour, Inkcarceration, Inkcarceration, and When We Were Young.
