Music news - babymetal release new single 'kon! kon!' featuring bloodywood

Anyone who knows me knows that babymetal and bloodywood are some of my favourite bands, so the team at hot and heavy knew instantly that this would be the review for me! Babymetal's newest offering kon! kon! is explosive, high-energy and full of harmonized goodness. When Bloodywood kicked off their verse it reminded me of the first verse of 'Nu Delhi' (which I had on repeat for months). It's fun, it's catchy and it's high intensity listening.

Kon! Kon! Is the fifth single off babymetal's upcoming album metal forth. The album drops on the 8th August, but the band have already been releasing hit after hit in the lead up to the main release. You may have already heard from me to u (feat. poppy), song 3 (feat. slaughter to prevail) and ratatata (feat. electric callboy). Other collaborations on the album include spiritbox and Tom Morello. This is going to be one hell of an album release!

This isn't the first time we've heard power houses Babymetal and Bloodywood combine forces. Bekhauf (released December 6th, 2024) is another huge collaborative track between the two. When these two bands collaborate it truly is a cultural and sound fusion in the best way possible. Pre-bridge you hear the beautiful sounds of traditional Indian instruments and you're mesmerized by their calming, mystical sound, but that doesn't last for long as you're thrown into chaos from the bridge, until the end of the track. This track looks phenomenal live and I am crossing my fingers, toes (and anything else that will cross), that these two bands will come to Australia together very soon!
