Originally founded in Florida and now based in Atlanta, Moodring return with their powerful new single “Half-Life,” marking a bold new chapter for the project led by frontman Hunter Young.

After turning heads with their 2022 debut Stargazer, which earned glowing praise including a 4/5 review from Kerrang! The band have now joined SharpTone Records and dropped a striking video for “Half-Life.”
This release marks a deeply personal turning point for Young, who reveals the song was written in the wake of a life changing medical diagnosis. With touring no longer a possibility, Moodring has evolved into something fluid. A creative outlet without fixed form or boundaries, allowing the project to adapt and grow through new collaborations and perspectives.
“Half-Life was one of the first songs written after I received a life changing medical diagnosis and was forced to grieve losing the person that I thought I was,” Young shares. “It was a devastating blow to an already tarnished nervous system. This song and the ones that followed were my way of coping and writing an obituary for the person I lost in that doctor’s office.”

Though born from something deeply personal, “Half-Life” extends beyond one experience, touching on universal themes of change, loss, and acceptance. As Young puts it, “Anyone who’s ever been forced to face realities or truths they cannot change can relate in ways that weren’t the original intention.”
Dark, raw, and emotionally charged, “Half-Life” captures Moodring at their most vulnerable and most compelling.
