starting with a wild feedback ring, Spectre's new ep 'Make Life Great Again' unpologetically enters the room.
This Ep is their first release in 6 years since their debut album, which came out in 2020. There's definitely a shift in energy from one to the other and I'm here for it. Even the track names themselves have a huge switch up with titles like 'Hey bro have you seen my 3DS?' and 'Pigeons aren't real' as opposed to their debut album's track titles 'In solutide' or 'Whispers from the deep.'
I love how misleading these goofy titles are. You wouldn't expect a track called 'Don't eat cheese before noon' to go as hard as it does and that's the beauty of it.

Something that really sticks out to me about their first track 'Rehab is for quitters' is the care that has gone into the vocal edit and mix, with rhythmic choppy toplines that feel almost like another part of the drum section.
Overall the wiry guitar tone is a crucial feature of this ep but furthermore, I feel like it really gets it's flowers in 'Don't eat cheese before noon' with an addictive underlying riff driving through the track.
Spectre's title track 'make life great again' is incredibly badass, Lyrically this track itches my brain so good.
" You motherfuckers try to step to me, I'll show you the meaning of misery"
"you motherfuckers wanna step to me, I'll show you what the fuck is misery"
Immediately this one went straight to my gym playlist.

"Born by betrayal, bound by brotherhood
Spectre vows to make life great again"
And you know what? Spectre truly is making life great again because this song makes me feel untouchable!! It's also such a strong track to sandwich right in the middle of the ep.
I don't want to spoil too much but the tail end of this ep features some really exciting elements. There's this really cool synth line underneath the last track that pokes through the mix as an interesting additional texture that compliments the bass really well.
I could spend all day describing it but truly, you just have to go stream it. 'Make Life great again' is out now on streaming services! Not only this but Spectre will be playing an EP launch on August 1st in wollongong!
