As the days get colder and the nights get gloomier, I’ve got the perfect track to accompany you for the start of the season.
‘Drömsång’, Swedish for “dreamsong”, is the eighth track off of Këkht Aräkh’s third album “Morning Star” that just dropped at the end of last month (I’ll save the full album review for another day ♡). This song is a re-recorded version of ‘Dröm Sång’, a single released by Këkht Aräkh in late 2024, with this version of the song taking a more atmospheric and darkly ambient approach.

One-man black metal project Këkht Aräkh (by Ukranian artist Crying Orc), writes a heartfelt love letter to second-wave black metal through his music. Taking influence from the cold and brutal sounds of black metal pioneers like Darkthrone and Immortal, Këkht Aräkh also incorporates a gentler intimacy within his sound.
‘Drömsång’ is a melancholic ballad, weaving dark folk influenced melodies with introspective lyrics. The production of this track features Këkht Aräkh’s signature ethereal quality, with warm static overlays that give the track a raw and authentic quality.
This overall effect is so beautiful, and really drives home the feeling that you have just stumbled upon a one-of-a-kind DIY-style recorded demo. Somber and melodic vocals float across the evocative melody, giving this song a soft romantic quality.
Listen to ‘Drömsång’ here for yourself, and make sure you check out the rest of the "Morning Star" album here while you're at it.
