internet romance - deep blue

hailing from naarm/melbourne is this funkadelic alt-rock band by the name of internet romance.

2026 has been moving fast for this group with 2 single releases to date, following with a third this friday, September 11th which gives us a taste of their upcoming ep 'i.r.l' (in real life) due to debut on October 9th.

here at hot & heavy, i have been blessed to hear their newest single 'deep blue' before release. this track is a unique yet gentle change of pace from their previous work and it's love at first listen. it's dreamy, atmospheric, emotional and is captivating with an etheral vision.

"deep blue is like a deep breath, it's the feeling of visiting my favourite place - the ocean. the song serves as a break from reality and stepping out of the constant fast-paced rush of life" says singer tilly abdallah.

being from the east coast myself, i instantly found a personal connection to deep blue and understand the full body sigh of relief when present with our beautiful oceans. it's a piece of magic some might not get to experience to the fullest, but a magic like no other.

we have been told the upcoming i.r.l ep explores themes of escapism, feminism, internet culture and the contradictions of modern life, with satirical jabs at the manosphere and some anchorman references. the ep is said to be self aware, humorous and emotionally charged.
