Internet Romance are not here to be trusted….. and that is exactly the point.

Melbourne heavy rock and punk group Internet Romance are officially stepping into the spotlight with their debut single My Dog’s A Liar, a track that is equal parts feral, funny and absolutely unhinged (in the best possible way). It is a song about a dog who simply cannot be trusted but really it is about everything we love about chaotic punk vibes. Thiiiick drums that feel like they are trying to kick your door in. Bass that sits heavy in the chest. Guitars that tear and bite. Vocals that flick between smug sneer and full blown snarl. Hehe my fav!

It’s stupid. It’s clever. It’s exactly what the Melbourne scene has been missing.

Recorded and produced by Callan Orr at Avalanche Studios, My Dog’s A Liar marks the official arrival of a band that has already been quietly slaying across the city throughout spring 2025. If you have caught them at The Evelyn Hotel, Bendigo Hotel, Bad Decisions Bar or Creatures Bar, you already know what’s up. Sources say their live shows feel like controlled chaos. Half comedy show. Half sonic assault. All sweat. That’s hot.

The writing leans hard into deadpan humour and absurd storytelling, using repeating hooks and sharp one liners that somehow get funnier the louder the crowd yells them back. It is post punk with teeth but it never forgets to have a laugh at itself.

The single officially lands on all streaming platforms Monday 12 January 2026 but the real celebration happens a few days later when the band take over The Workers Club in Fitzroy for their very first headline show.

Heres the deets:

This is not just a single launch, kids. This is the beginning of what Internet Romance are shaping up to make a very big year. The band have already confirmed plans for a follow up single, music videos, more Melbourne shows, regional dates and the release of their debut EP across 2026.

If this track is anything to go by, the future is loud, sarcastic and probably lying straight to your face.

Tickets are on sale now through Oztix and you can keep up with everything Internet Romance are doing over at instagram.com/internetromance

Do not trust the dog. Trust the band.
